To my favorite partner in crime, fellow wanderer, and wildest adventure buddy — life is definitely better, louder, and WAY more scenic with you in it!
Here’s to another year of chasing horizons, getting slightly lost (or completely lost), collecting ridiculous stories, picking up rocks like they’re priceless treasures, and never actually finishing a hike because we’re too busy stopping every five feet to take pictures! Let’s be honest, we hike about 10% of the time and spend the other 90% admiring rocks, taking photos, and wondering what that bird is over there.
And let’s not forget our world-class wildlife photography skills — setting up all our expensive camera gear, only to abandon it and RUN FOR COVER BEHIND A SAGUARO when the Salt River horses decide they’re coming our way! Because apparently, getting the perfect shot is important… but not as important as surviving to tell the story!
Jen, the only person thoughtful enough to stop and pick up a DEAD BIRD just because she knows I love feathers. That, my friend, is true friendship. Most people bring you store bought gifts; you bring me roadkill with sentimental value.
We may not always know where we’re going, we may never make it to the end of the trail, and we probably need a GPS, a snack, a full camera battery, and an emergency escape plan just to get through one adventure — but I wouldn’t want to be lost with anyone else!
Cheers to another year of laughter, questionable decisions, weird treasures, unforgettable memories, and adventures that sound completely normal until we try to explain them to other people.
Happy Birthday, bestie! Love you more than all the rocks we’ve collected, all the pictures we’ve taken, and all the feathers (and questionable bird remains) we’ve ever found!
Here’s to growing older, but never growing up — and to being The Two Lost Girls forever! May our adventures always be wild, our photos be plentiful, our gear survive our wildlife encounters, and our hiding spots be cactus-free… or at least have a really good view!
